I am Richard Oussoren, owner of Raymakers, de best velvet mill in the world and we are based in Helmond, The Netherlands. Raymakers nowadays is a velvet company, established in 1773, in 1952 we received the Royal stamp of the Dutch Queen and in 2004 I have acquired the company.

The unique characteristics of velvet are that it is a 3-dimensional textile, so it has a 3^rd yarn. This results in a very deep colour appearance and in a very soft and rich textile. We focus on market development, product development, an efficient manufacturing of our products and on securing our quality and the skills of our people.

Our complete financing is part of the RABO bank. Their approach is to analyse the company as a whole, so not focussing just on real estate financing, or just on financing the operation. For us, this felt right from the beginning and that is why the RABO bank has become our house bank.

We sell our products all over the world to wholesalers, contract companies, large scale retailers and furniture manufacturers. In the last few years we have strongly focussed on the development of our market in Asia, South America, Russia and the Middle East. We have not finished that yet, it is a process and we will continue to do so in the forthcoming years. Knowledge of international markets is helpful for us as we are acting internationally.

Moreover, our purchasing is international, especially cotton. Cotton is a commodity and I expect from the RABO bank, taking their background into consideration, that they can supply us with information about the worldwide cotton situation. I expect from the people at the RABO bank that they are sincerely interested in what we do. As a company we have ambitious objectives. Amongst others, that means that the financing sometimes should be stretched to the limit. The approach of the RABO bank is to look at the total company; where is some space and where is some space required? Through that approach, I think, it will be possible to realise our ambitious objectives together.

The comparison between RABO bank and Raymakers is that we both aim to be the best in what we do. Raymakers wants to stay the best velvet mill in the world and RABO bank wants to become the best wholesale bank.
